چکیده

Despite advancements in prevention measures, infectious mastitis is a common disease of economic significance cattle. Clinical affects 20 to 25% cows each year. Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) causes an estimated 10-11.7% clinical bovine cases the US. Antibiotic therapy tends fail 50% time and nature vaccine immunity usually fails, due S. aureus’ evasion mechanisms, leading significant morbidity, chronic mastitis, culling such cows. Specific IgYs have been found inhibit growth vitro, but produced especially for experiments, commercially available presentations not compared IgY by naturally exposed chickens. Combination antibiotic treatment of serious methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infections.

Outcomes from methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections are relatively poor, at least in part due to the limitations of vancomycin (the current standard treatment for MRSA). Combination antibiotic treatment for MRSA infections is an attractive alternative as it could address most of vancomycin's shortcomings, including poor tissue penetration, slow bacterial killing, and eme...

Immunomodulatory approaches to the treatment of infections

The immune system offers a wide variety of potential targets for modulation in the treatment of infectious diseases. Available possibilities permit both prophylactic and therapeutic immunomodulation for supportive and direct treatment of infections. In addition to regular moderate exercise, an adequate diet containing plant polyphenols, particularly from fruit, and micronutrients such as seleni...

Non-Antibiotic Prophylaxis for Urinary Tract Infections

Increasing antimicrobial resistance has stimulated interest in non-antibiotic prophylaxis of recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs). Well-known steps in the pathogenesis of UTIs are urogenital colonization and adherence of uropathogens to uroepithelial cell receptors. To prevent colonization in postmenopausal women, vaginal, but not oral, estrogens have been shown to restore the vagina lacto...

Daptomycin and Its Immunomodulatory Effect: Consequences for Antibiotic Treatment of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus Wound Infections after Heart Surgery

Infections by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) play an increasing role in the postoperative course. Although wound infections after cardiac surgery are rare, the outcome is limited by the prolonged treatment with high mortality. Not only surgical debridement is crucial, but also antibiotic support. Next to vancomycin and linezolid, daptomycin gains increasing importance. Altho...
